So we’re closing the year, yet atleast we passed December 21st but this won’t stop IHS iSuppli on revealing their estimated numbers of most shipped cellphones for 2012.
For the first time after 14 years,
Samsung topped the spot for most shipped cellphones to dethrone Finnish
giant Nokia on the second place, while the Cupertino-giant Apple held
steady in the third place as far as total shipments and on second place
for the smartphone segment.

The preliminary forecast shows the top
five manufacturers which have significant slice for 2012’s global
shipments. Samsung with 29%, Nokia with 24% and Apple which
significantly shows 10% considering that it’s only manufacturing
smartphones(iPhones) and no feature phones. Rounding up the top five
were ZTE and LG with 6% and 4%, respectively.
On the smartphone global shipments,
still Samsung dominates with 28%, followed by Apple with 20% and Nokia
on third which notably shows that it has been hardly beaten by the
smartphone-trend with 5% from 20% last 2011. HTC and RIM completes the
roundup with both 5%. RIM show considerable decline from 2011’s 11%
compared to 5% from this year, as trend goes to touchscreen smartphones.
Generally, the mobile trend shows strong
inclination to smartphone with estimated shipments to rise up to 35.5%
which will cover 47% of the total cell phone shipments for 2012.
