Yesterday Mark Zuckerberg announced Facebook Home, a new app that can turn any Android phone into the mythical Facebook Phone. One thing that Zuckerberg said stuck out to Windows Phone users. He said that Facebook Home is all about putting people first instead of apps. If you’re familiar with Windows Phone marketing you know that putting people first has been Microsoft’s selling point since day one. If you use Windows Phone you already have a “Facebook phone,” but if you want to go above and beyond there are some things you can do.
The only apps you need are probably already on your phone: Facebook, People, Messaging, and Photos. First you will want to set up Facebook as your lockscreen wallpaper. While you’re doing that be sure to set Facebook as the detailed status app. Next you will want to go into the Facebook app and pin messages, events, and nearby to Start. In the People Hub make sure to pin the Me tile for quick access to writing status’ and seeing notifications. Also, if you use groups, pin those to Start for quick viewing of what your friends are up to. Lastly, use the Photos app to see all the recent photos your friends have posted.
Check out the video below to see how your phone can be a super-powered Facebook machine that puts Facebook Home to shame.
