According to a story over at iPhoneInCanada.com, the next iPhone – rumored to be iPhone 5S, of course – will feature a 12MP camera with improved night shots. The story initially broke on tinte.vn, which listed the source as someone from the Vietnamese branch of Wonderful Saigon Electrics, a Japanese supplier that Apple sources for camera modules.

Given that iPhone rumors go for about a dime a dozen these days, it’s understandable to dismiss this at first glance. However, it’s important to note that this source has been reliable in recent memory, correctly informing tinte.vn that the iPhone 5 would feature an 8MP camera, as opposed to the widelow-rumored-at-the-time 10MP camera.
At this point, it’s hard to imagine Apple ever releasing a new phone without at least a few camera improvements. Even still, this provides some possible insight into what direction Apple is heading with its next release.
